+ 23.Oct.06 Rocking Renames
What is it with all the bands renaming themselves? This show I’ve got two podsafe music pioneers that are doing just that. But, at least they still not how to rock out!
Featured on this episode:
- Lacuna Coil – Closer
- Berman – Send Me to the End
- De La Vega – Live or Die
- The Substitutes – In the City
- Supersuckers – Rock N Roll Records
Be sure to swing on by PodShow when you get a second and say hello.

From henceforth, my name shall be known as Luco, Conqueror of Kalacria and Tyrant to Local Fish Populations.
Pax,
Matthew

Hi ya double C whatsup? I am listening to this show and mourning the awesome names in indie music that have gone the way of the Dodo. IT SUCKS! You and I are both Marketers (granted I am an undergrad!) and we know the importance of Brand Equity. Great names are brands, it is as simple as that. I mean I just don’t get why established Indie bands change their names whenever something comes up. I mean did Iron maiden change their name? Did Metalllica? Granted millions of people know who they are versus thousands or hundreds of thousands who name Indie bands but I feel that people get used to a band, its personality, and its name over time. Granted band members come and go but usually the name sticks because it is a reflection of what the band is. This year has been nuts as far as Indie music is concerned. I thought Granian was bad enough but know De La Vega and Berman? Heck I love Granian’s music and I have been listening to him for over a yr now but I wouldn’t be able to recall their new name if I was paid! I think that its annoying and frustrating when you have to keep on remembering the new names while trying to remember who used to be called what… Sorry about the rant but I just wanted to give my 2 cents on the matter. I just hope that this trend stops otherwise I am going to have to prepare a list for my friends (and myself!) who I show my great Indie music too that says sorry but the awesome artists that you just listened to are now called xyz now. Sorry about the rant! Catch you on the flip side my fav Bostonian!

Hey C.C., Ivy League (DLV) has a page on the PMN, and I just saw they have a MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/IvyLeagueRock
It looks like some of the original members have left, and they’ve regrouped.
