No middlemen, no distribution cut, no anything. When you look at the math behind traditional RIAA album sales, on an $18 album, the artist MAYBE gets 85 cents or so. Even with independent album sales, a $12 CD has a $4 CD Baby cost, $2 duplication cost, $1 shipping cost - which means that they come home with $5 per album.
