At first I was mildly horrified at the extra credit spelling test word but my guess is it was either an educational experiment or more of a way to enlighten the students as to how much attention they pay to words they are exposed to frequently. How many correctly got the hyphen and capitalization in Wal-Mart?

I really doubt the teacher was trying to teach the kids how to correctly spell Wal-Mart for their future careers or the checks they’ll be writing as consumers.
